As an open ticketing platform, Universe hosts listings and sells tickets on behalf of companies or individuals. We refer to these individuals or companies who set up events on the Universe platform as "Sellers". Events are created and administered by Sellers and Universe hosts these events on our platform. In order to purchase a ticket for a Seller's event, you may need to create a Universe account. If you have any questions about an event or a Seller's use of your data, please contact the Seller directly.

Our Privacy Policy has been designed with you in mind. How the policy applies to you will depend on the way in which you interact with us. For example, if you:

  1. purchase a ticket from us, we will use the information you provide us to fulfil both our and the Seller's obligations to you in delivering that service, and, where permitted, keep you up to date about other events that may be of interest to you; and
  2. when you browse our sites, we use cookies to tailor your experience and hopefully provide you with a seamless experience.

What Information We Have & Where We Get It

  • Contact and billing information. When you create an account, buy a ticket or have a ticket transferred to you by a friend, we will collect your information which depending on service we are providing, may include your contact and billing information.
  • Information you post. When you use a social media feature within our website or apps, and you post to social media platforms, the social media site will provide us with some information about you.
  • Demographic Information. We use suppliers who collate geodemographic data which assists us in better personalising our services to you. If you'd prefer that we do not do this, see the 'Your Rights & Choices' section below.
  • Accessibility Information. If you have accessibility requirements, we want to make sure you have the best experience when attending events. To do this, we need to collect details of your requirements (which may involve you providing information about your mental or physical health).
  • Information used for health/safety purposes. We may collect information from ticket purchasers and attendees for compliance purposes related to infectious disease to the extent required under applicable law. This information may include names, contact details, seat locations, along with entry and exit times. In situations where a third party for an event organizer requires the collection of health information (such as test results), please refer to their privacy policy and terms to understand how your data was collected and used.
  • Children’s Information. In the few instances where we collect personal information from children, we always seek parental consent and will only ever use such information for the purposes specified when we use it.
  • We collect information from you passively. We use tracking tools like browser cookies and web beacons. To learn more about these tools and to control them, please click here. We also collect information from our apps.
  • We get information about you from third parties. For example, if you use a social media feature within our websites or apps or post to a social media platform, the social media site will give us some information about you.
  • Other Information. We may collect information such as the browser and device you're using, your IP address, your location, the site you came from, what you did and didn't use our site/app for, or the site you visit when you leave us. What information we have & where we get it

  • Creating an Account & Buying tickets. When you create an account, buy a ticket, register for a presale or have a ticket transferred to you by a friend, we will collect your information which depending on service we are providing, may include your contact and billing information.
  • Using our websites and apps. When you use our websites or apps, we collect information such as the browser and device you're using, your IP address, your location, the site you came from, what you did and didn't use our site/app for, or the site you visit when you leave us. For more information on how we collect this information, see our Cookies Policy.
  • Fan experience & customer support. When you contact our Customer Services teams with a query or provide us with feedback, we record that interaction for evidentiary purposes.
  • Using social media. When you use a social media feature within our website or apps, and you post to social media platforms, the social media site will provide us with some information about you.
  • Accessibility. If you have accessibility requirements, we want to make sure you have the best experience when attending events. To do this, we need to collect details of your requirements (which may involve you providing information about your mental or physical health).
  • Processing children’s data. In the few instances where we collect personal information from children, we always seek parental consent and will only ever collect such information for the purposes specified when we collect it.
  • Geodemographic data suppliers. We use suppliers who collate geodemographic data which assists us in better personalising our services to you. If you’d prefer that we do not do this, see the ‘Your Rights & Choices’ section below.
  • Fan Images and CCTV. When attending an event at a venue or festival we collect your image and likeness whether this is through CCTV cameras or videographers or photographers on venue of festival sites. This is primarily collected for the safety and security of our fans; however, we sometimes use these images in our marketing or social media posts. If you wish to object to images being used for marketing visit the ‘Your Rights & Choices’ section below.

How We Use Your Information & Why

  • For the performance of our contract with you. When you enter into a contract with us (for example to buy merchandise or a ticket), we use your information to process your order and provide you with customer support. This includes sending you emails about your account or a ticket purchase. We might also contact you about this policy or our website terms.
  • We use information to improve our products and services. We might use your information to customize your experience with us. This could include displaying content based upon your preferences.
  • We may use your information to make our website, products, and services better. We may combine information we get from you with information about you we get from third parties.
  • We use information for security purposes. We use information to protect our company, our customers, or our websites. This includes to detect or prevent unlawful behavior.
  • We use information for health/safety purposes. Any information required to be collected for purposes of compliance with applicable health and safety requirements, will only be used to contact attendees or shared with.
  • We use information for marketing purposes. For example, we might send you information about special promotions or offers. We might also tell you about new features or products. These might be our own offers or products, or third-party offers or products we think you might find interesting. Or, for example, if you buy tickets from us we'll enroll you in our newsletter.   • We may also use push notifications on our mobile apps. We may use push notifications and your location information in our apps to send you alerts regarding local events.

How we use your information & why

This section explains how we use your information and the legal basis on which we use it.

  1. For the performance of our contract with you
    • When you make purchases. We use your information when you enter into a contract with us (for example to buy merchandise or a ticket) so we can:
      • process your order
      • send you customer service emails including booking confirmations and event reminders
      • take payment, and
      • provide you with customer support.
    • Sellers. To share with Sellers who organise the event to enable them to run the event, allocate seating or notify you if there has been a change to the event or provide important event information.
  2. For our legitimate business interests
    • Market research. To conduct market research and analysis which helps improve and customise our products and services.
    • Fan feedback. To contact you with satisfaction surveys, or to participate in user research (such as focus groups). We include an unsubscribe option for this kind of contact should you no longer wish to receive them.
    • Personalisation. To create a profile about you to help us personalise our services to you. For example, if you purchase tickets to pop events and you have consented to our marketing, we will inform you about other pop events we think you might be interested in.
  3. For our overriding legitimate business interests
    • To prevent or detect unlawful behaviour, to protect or enforce our legal rights or as otherwise permitted by law. For example, making sure tickets get into the hands of real fans. As such, we may use your information to prevent ticket touting, misuse of our intellectual property (e.g. our or our Event Partner's brands), fraud, or other crimes.
    • Event security. To protect our fans and ensure the security of our and our Event Partners’ operations.
  4. Where you’ve given your consent
    • Marketing. To contact you with information or offers regarding upcoming events, products or services – this may be via email, via push and web notifications, via SMS, or social media platforms. You can change your marketing preferences at any time, see “Your choices and rights” section below.
    • Location-based services. For example, our apps request location permission for functions like browsing events near your location and receiving push notifications about them or seeing yourself on the map at an event.
    • Advertising & cookies. To deliver tailored advertising and marketing communications on our websites and apps (see our Cookies Policy for more information).
    • Accessibility. To process your health data to meet your accessibility requirements, where specifically required and explicit consent is provided.
    • Commercial Partners. We sometimes work with Commercial Partners who we share data with. These are third party data controllers that we work with to provide additional value-add services, such as our travel packages, sponsors or exclusive presale deals. In some circumstances, where sharing is not necessary for us to perform the contract you have requested, we will request your consent prior to sharing and provide information regarding what will be shared with whom.

Who We Share Your Data With & Why

We may share information with third parties.

  • We will share information within the Live Nation family of companies. This may include Ticketmaster and Live Nation-owned or operated venues, for example.
  • We will share information with third parties who perform services on our behalf. For example, we share information with vendors who help us manage our IT infrastructure or who fulfill your purchases. Some vendors may be located outside of the United States.
  • We will share information with our business partners. This includes a third party who provides an event such as the artist, promoter or team, or sponsors an event, or who operates a venue where we hold events. This may also include third party advertisers who may collect information when you interact with our site. Our partners use this information. Our partners use the information we give them as described in their privacy policies, which may include sending you marketing communications. You should read those polices to learn how they treat your information.
  • We will share information with third parties who sell products or services to you. We will disclose your information to a ticket buyer or seller for order fulfillment purposes if you buy or sell tickets via our resale platform, or with a third party who provides you with ticket insurance or merchandise, for example.
  • We may share information if we think we have to in order to comply with the law or to protect ourselves. For example, we will share information to respond to a court order or subpoena. We may also share information if a government agency or investigatory body requests it. Or, we might also share information when we are investigating potential fraud.
  • We may share information with any successor to all or part of our business. For example, if part of our business is sold we may give our customer list as part of that transaction.
  • We may share your information for reasons not described in this policy. We will tell you before we do this.

Who we share your data with & why

  • Live Nation Entertainment. Within the Live Nation Entertainment Group and associated family of companies who provide services for us such as marketing, profiling, reporting and technical and product support.
  • Data processors. Our third-party service providers (sometimes known as data processors) such as cloud computing providers who provide the IT infrastructure on which our products and systems are built.
  • Sellers. Sellers are the entities who use Universe’s open ticketing platform to list events to be sold. We share your information with Sellers so that they can run the event and for other reasons described in their privacy policies. We will name the Seller when you purchase a ticket so you know who will receive your data, and you will be given the option to subscribe to receiving marketing from them.
  • Third party products. If you have bought any goods and services fulfilled by third parties (e.g. ticket insurance or merchandise), we’ll share data with them so that they can process and fulfil your orders.
  • Commercial Partners. These are third parties we work with to provide additional value-add services. As the type of Commercial Partners we work with varies, we use just-in-time information to let you know when data will be shared with them and that it will be processed in accordance with their privacy notice.
  • Disclosures under law. Government agencies or other authorised bodies where permitted or required by law.
  • Successors. Any successor to all or part of our business.

Your Choices & Rights

Your choices

Where you have given us your consent, you can withdraw it by doing the following.

  • To stop receiving our promotional emails, click here or follow the instructions in any marketing email you get from us. You can also change your preferences in your account. It may take about ten days to process your request. Even if you opt out of getting marketing emails, we will still be sure to send you transactional messages. For example, we may still contact you about your orders.
  • To opt out of the use of cookies and tracking tools, please see our Cookies Policy.
  • To opt out of location tracking and push notifications, you can change the settings on your device or keep your location off. To stop web push notifications, you will need to use your browser settings.
  • To object to personalisation you can change your preferences within your account. If this option is not available you can contact us and we will do it for you

Your rights – Europe and the UK

Subject to applicable laws, you may also have rights over how your personal information is used including:

  • The right to object to our processing of your data.
  • The right to request that your information be erased or restricted from further use.
  • The right to request a copy of the information we hold about you.
  • The right to correct, amend or update information you have given us (where you have an account with us you can also do this by logging in and updating your information).
  • The right to contest any automated decision we make about you. An automated decision is a decision taken without any human intervention which has legal consequences (e.g. credit checking). We don't typically carry out automated decision making but, if we do, we will make it clear where such decisions are being made.

Please note that whilst we will carefully assess every request we receive, your rights and the time period for actioning a right may differ according to your place of residence and we may not always have to comply. When this happens, we will explain why.

Your rights – North America

  • You have choices around how to control the collection, use, and sharing of your personal information.

    Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights around your personal information. Below we explain what those rights are and how you can exercise them:

    • Disclosure. You have the right to request a report showing the personal information collected, shared, and sold about you.
    • Deletion. You have the right to request that we delete any personal information collected from or about you.
    • Correction. You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information collected from or about you.
    • Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing or Processing. You have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. You also have the right to opt out of the processing of your data for targeted advertising or profiling purposes.
    • Non-Discrimination. We shall not discriminate against you based on your exercise of any of the above rights.

Please be sure to include your full name, email address, and which type of request you are making in your letter.

Your “Do Not Sell or Share” Rights Under the CCPA. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information, as defined by the CCPA. California residents may exercise this right to opt out online by submitting a “Do Not Sell or Share My Information” request here. Alternatively, California residents may submit a request to opt out of sales or sharing by calling us at 855-663-0019.

Oregon Consumer Privacy Act: You may have the right to obtain additional information about third parties with whom we share your personal information. To learn more email us.

To verify your identity, we may collect information such as your full name and email address. This information will be compared to our existing records to verify the identity of the individual submitting the request. We may also require you to confirm your request via an automated email message before responding to your privacy rights request. Depending on the sensitivity of the information requested and the type of request, we may require additional information to verify your identity before responding. We will respond to your request within 45 days if possible and required under the law. Please note that if you we deny your request, you may appeal this denial by contacting us using the information at the bottom of this policy.

Data Retention and Deletion. As noted in the above chart, how long we retain personal data will vary depending on the products or services we provide and our legal obligations under applicable laws. For example, we retain certain purchase information for accounting and tax purposes even after you have deleted your account. Our retention periods are generally informed by three factors: 1) Is this information necessary to provide the product or service? 2) What consent have you provided around our use of this information? and 3) What statutory, contractual, or other legal obligations do we have to retain this information?

In all situations, your personal data will be securely deleted after the relevant limitation or retention periods have expired.

Authorized Agents. You may designate an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf. For an authorized agent to be considered verified, you must provide the authorized agent with signed, written affidavit to make such requests or a power of attorney. We may follow up with you to verify your identity before processing an agent’s request. If you are an authorized agent submitting a request on behalf of another individual, please use the methods listed above to make this request.

If you are a California resident and have an established business relationship with us, you can email us to request a list of the personal information we have shared with third parties for their marketing purposes. We will also give you a list of the third parties that have received your information. You can make a request one time each year.

Mention in your email that you are making a "California Shine the Light" inquiry. We will respond within 30 days.

Do Not Track. Our websites and apps are not designed to respond to 'do not track' requests from browsers.

Looking After Your Information

We have security measures in place to protect your information. The security measures we use will depend on the type of information collected.

We only keep your information for as long as required to provide you with the services you request, for the purposes outlined in this policy and for any legal purposes for which we are obliged to keep the information. We will securely delete your information when it is no longer required for these purposes, in line with our company policies.

As a part of a global group of companies, we rely on shared services, some of which are located outside of Europe. At the same time, when world-class acts are touring, in order to provide you a seamless experience, your information may be transferred internationally.

When transferring information in this way, there are strict rules in place to ensure your data is still protected to a high standard. Where we do this, we will ensure that appropriate safeguards are put in place. Where your information is transferred outside of the European Economic Area, we will use one of the mechanisms listed below.
