How To Fundraise From Celebrity Investors
with Rashaun Williams
and
Special Guest, Lanny Smith, Former NBA player and Founder of Active Faith
Back in 2007, Coca-Cola’s deal to buy VitaminWater’s parent company for $4.1 billion netted 50 Cent $100 million. How? The rapper took equity stake in lieu of a simple endorsement fee for his Formula 50 flavor.
It was an early example of how lucrative it can be for athletes and entertainers to maximize opportunities off the court, stage or movie set. And, more importantly, go beyond the typical promotion deal.
Over the last 10 years, this ecosystem of influencer-backed private equity has grown rapidly. Special guest expert, Rashaun Williams, will host this first-ever session to share insights from partnering with the likes of hip hop icon Nas and the NBA Players’ Association Technology Summit led by Andre Igoudala.
Rashaun will be joined by special guest Lanny Smith, a former NBA player and founder of faith-based athletic apparel company Active Faith, which has grown 3900% in the last three years aided by influencer backed private equity. Most of his investors are pro athletes, including back to back NBA MVP Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.
Topics include:
- The intersection of fame and investing - Success stories and cautionary tales from across the emerging technology, new media and lifestyle industries
