Description
Lebanon has been experiencing an unprecedented wave of protests
since October 17, 2019, novel in terms of scale, longevity, and appeal. Yet,
this movement did not emerge in a vacuum, and can be seen as a continuation of
mobilizations and conflicts over the past 15 years. How this history is told,
and where the boundary markers are placed, is not politically-neutral.
Join us in this discussion
of shifting narratives and frameworks that help insurgent actors, media
observers, and globally-minded citizens make sense of current events. This is a
discussion that is rooted in a particular place and time, but it is also
relevant to all contexts where people are making and writing history.
