Why is this a free event?
Wildlife rehabilitation is a full time commitment. Most wildlife rehabilitators do not receive any compensation, and they spend a costly amount of their own personal resources to provide care. Protecting our wildlife is the responsibility of us all and should not just fall solely on wildlife rehabilitators. So the least we can do is offer free continuing education resources for professionals that work with orphaned and injured wild animals.
How do we make this a free event?
We rely on the support of our community through donations and sponsorships. WREN is a 501c3 and all donations are tax deductible. Cannot donate or sponsor our event but want to help? You can follow our Facebook page and share our fundraising posts. We will be doing fundraisers for most of the speakers. If you are a local business in Athens, Georgia and want to host a donation drop off box, please e-mail us at lizwrencertified@gmail.com. We can provide a container and list of items that can be purchased in your store or elsewhere.
We have limited seating. If you are unable to attend, please notify us to cancel your tickets within 48 hours of the event.
Why can only wildlife rehabilitators, wildlife rehabilitation volunteers, and veterinary professionals register for the entire symposium?
While we appreciate the general public's interest in the wildlife husbandry and medicine focused lectures, we reserve these ONLY for actively practicing wildlife rehabbers, veterinary professionals, and current wildlife rehabilitation volunteers. We have limited seating. And these lectures are for professionals that can and will utilize what they learn which in turn benefits our wildlife. If you do not fall into one of those categories or are not a WREN volunteer assisting with they symposium, you can e-mail us at lizwrencertified@gmail.com for any questions.
