Through education, cooperation, and advocacy we seek to ensure that the burgeoning hemp industry decreases, rather that increases, the region's climate footprint, supports family farming, and promotes social equity in both rural and urban economic development.

About our Speakers
John Dvorak: Hempologist John Dvorak has studied cannabis hemp and its prohibition for more than 25 years. He brings his unique style of anti-prohibition advocacy to radio & television programs, student groups, medical marijuana conferences, patient groups, trade shows,hemp festivals and legalization rallies. JD developed the Cannabis Curriculum to encourage research into the beneficial aspects of industrial hemp and medicinal cannabis and the devastating effects that marijuana prohibition has on society. The Cannabis Curriculum explores the historic uses, current applications and future economic possibilities of industrial hemp and medical marijuana while also highlighting the negative social effects associated with marijuana prohibition. The interaction of cannabis with public policy, political science, sociology and philosophy are covered as is the influence of marijuana on the entertainment world and the crucial role women are playing in ending prohibition and de-stigmatizing cannabis consumption.
His Traveling Hemp Museum includes raw materials, artifacts and finished products made from hemp. JD’s website,Hempology.Org, contains many articles and images that highlight hemp's rich history as does the repository of Cannabis History Source Documents that he created. He’s written articles for numerous publications and websites while providing advice, guidance and counseling for those entering the cannabis hemp space. JD created 3 lectures for Oregon State University’s online Industrial Hemp course and is a long time member and former Board member of both the Hemp Industries Association and Mass Cann/NORML.
Laura Beohner: Laura is the President & Co-Founder of The Healing Rose, an organic CBD body care company that uses 100% Certified Organic carrier oils, essential oils, butters, waxes, and herbs. She has been a medical cannabis patient for 6+ years and believes that cannabis and hemp are a Master Plant that can change the World. Laura has been a public speaker at conventions and trade shows all over New England for the past 3 years and is passionate about teaching others about topics such as Infusions, Topicals, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Branding & Women in Cannabis. Laura is on the Board of Directors for Elevate Northeast.
Angela Arena Foster: Angela Arena Foster is the founder of Kind Lab, a hemp-infused product manufacturer & retail store out of Marblehead, MA. Angela has been in the Massachusetts cannabis industry for a few years, having previously worked at CannaKorp. Angela is also pursuing a manufacturing license to make marijuana-infused versions of her hemp products, and hopes to expand into home delivery.
Julia Agron: Based in western Massachusetts, Julia is Outreach Coordinator for the Northeast Sustainable Hemp Association (NOSHA). She has experience working in one of the largest medical marijuana dispensaries in Massachusetts and one-on-one coaching. She hosts an Infused Foods Focus Group, serving elegant infused small plates and tastings, while facilitating an open discussion on upcoming adult use, social consumption and industry trends. In November 2018 she organized and moderated the Cannabis in Your Community Panel Discussion for ElevateNE, bringing together a diverse body of industry professionals and local government to address the public.
Ellen Taylor Brown: Ellen is the founder of Sinsemilla Seminars. Her passions for education stems from being a teacher in the United States Air Force where she received Air Combat Command - Nutritional Medicine Airman of the Year. In 2010, after her service Ellen moved to Humboldt Country and began her career in the cannabis industry. She became the manager and lead cultivator of a dispensary in Northern California for a number of years. Ellen has been interviewed by numerous news, journalism and entertainment sources including Marijuana Venture Magazine, Cape & Plymouth Business Magazine, High Times Magazine, The Boston Globe, Americaninno, News Center 5 WCVB, Leafly, New Haven Independent, and The Cannabis Industry Institute. She uses her knowledge to inspire others to become their own best advocates. Ellen specializes in sustainable cultivation of hemp and cannabis, best practices, dispensary service, and how to create a myriad of products. Ellen’s extensive knowledge and first-hand industry experience has made her a fiercely sought-after consultant. She has spoken at over 60 conferences and is recognized as a cannabis thought leader and activist. As a prominent advocate, Ellen has spoken all over the world including The Boston Freedom Rally, The Seattle Hempfest and The High Times Jamaica Cannabis Cup.
