Description
The Still House Sessions will thrill whiskey and music lovers alike with a series of monthly shows in one of Tennessee’s premiere distilleries, the Leiper's Fork Distillery. On July 26 we welcome hit songwriters Chris Wallin, Dave Berg and Aaron Barker to the Still House Sessions.
With his unique gift for finding the extraordinary in ordinary life, Chris Wallin has established himself as one of Nashville's most sought-after songwriters. For the past several years, Wallin has topped the charts with classics-in-the-making for the industry's biggest stars: “Love Me If You Can” by Toby Keith, "Don't Blink" by Kenny Chesney, “I’m Tryin’” by Trace Adkins, “Something To Be Proud Of” and “Speed” by Montgomery Gentry and "People Loving People" by Garth Brooks.
Artists who have cut Chris’s songs include Lorrie Morgan, Garth Brooks, Aaron Lewis, Montgomery Gentry, Sammy Kershaw, Tommy Shane Steiner, Trace Adkins, Michael Peterson, Anthony Smith, Jeffrey Steele, Confederate Railroad, Neal McCoy, Brian Mccomas, Brad Paisley, Joe Diffie, Diamond Rio, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith and many more.
In 2004, Dave Berg scored his first #1 country song, Reba McEntire’s “Somebody,” which lead to a non-stop focus on songwriting for the Country market, and a streak of hit singles. This streak would result in five #1 songs, and many awards and honors including being named 2008 ASCAP Songwriter of the Year, 2007 Billboard and NSAI Songwriter of the Year and writing the 2007 Billboard & ASCAP Country Song of the Year, “If You’re Goin’ Through Hell” recorded by Rodney Atkins. Another number one song, Keith Urban’s “Stupid Boy,” earned Keith a Grammy for Country Male Performance of the Year. Other number one hits include Rodney Atkins’ “These Are My People” and Emerson Drive’s “Moments.” Notable charting hits include Blake Shelton’s “Don’t Make Me,” Bucky Covington’s “It’s Good To Be Us” and Chris Cagle’s “What Kinda Gone.” Berg’s songs have been recorded and performed by some of country music’s finest artists, including Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Jewel, and Cassadee Pope.
Singer-songwriter Aaron Barker is best known for the string of hits he wrote for country superstar George Strait, but Barker’s long career has many other highlights. Strait recorded Barker’s song “Baby Blue” and scored a #1 hit with it in 1988. Strait repeatedly returned to the songwriter’s catalog for such successes as “Love Without End, Amen” (1990), “Easy Come, Easy Go” (1993), “I’d Like to Have That One Back” (1994), “I Know She Still Loves Me” (1996) and “I Can Still Make Cheyenne” (1996). Doug Supernaw’s record of “Not Enough Hours in the Night” (1995), Lonestar’s version of “What About Now” (2000) and Clay Walker’s renditions of “You’re Beginning to Get to Me” (1998) and “Watch This” (1997) all became Top 10 hits. Others who have recorded Aaron Barker songs include Tyler Farr, Trace Adkins, Aaron Tippin, Tracy Lawrence, Neal McCoy, and Willie Nelson. Barker was inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2007 and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame 2016.
