Description
Sur: el llamado de la antártica / South: Antarctica Calling The Spanish-speaking Southern part of our hemisphere stands out all by its own. With a rich and varied geography, this part of the world is defined by having a diverse climate, the mighty Andes, the Amazonian jungle, and by unique peoples and cultures. The most southern countries are considered more “European.”They are famous for being brainier and less spontaneous than, let’s say, their neighbours ringing the Caribbean. They are also less attached to their ancient past than their cousins in Central and North America. People from countries like Chile and Argentina have thrived in harsh weather conditions to become great authors, musicians, and of course, filmmakers. This year, we at aluCine felt the need to honor those two countries with a small sample of films that will give us a sneak peek into the peoples who truly inhabit el Sur.
