*** ALL FILMS WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES ***
Lush cinematography and a contemplative, atmospheric narrative underscore this timely and touching story of youth, family, and preservation.
At once charming, heartbreaking, relevant, and informative, Seven Ridges presents a rich coming-of-age tale, contrasting the importance of tradition with the toxic temptations of modernity. As the first full-length feature drama to be produced completely in Cmiique Iitom (the indigenous Seri language), this film transcends time and age, providing essential perspectives on language and culture.
Director Antonio Coello displays masterful use of camera, music, and storytelling to bring these characters and their day-to-day experiences to life. He blends fact and fiction to fully immerse the viewer in Seri culture. In the words of Coello himself, Seven Ridges “seeks to transmit a cultural experience through cinematic storytelling.”
