This event is tailored for founders who have raised 500K+ to date and are focussed on raising their post seed or series A rounds.
Mo Bazazi (OTEAF) will be opening the event with a keynote on how a pitch is assessed by VCs. Throughout his career, Mo has heard hundreds of pitches from businesses at every stages. He will give you an insight into the best way to engage a VC for a successful fundraising, the best strategies when delivering your pitch and the most common pitfalls to avoid.

Jasmin Ganie-Hobbs is a Senior Lender at the Business Development Bank of Canada, working primarily with emerging technology, innovation, & knowledge based companies. She is one of the most successful lenders in BDC’s Entrepreneurship Centre. Much of her success lies in her astute judgment in determining the credibility of a business’ management team & their potential for future success. Jamie Rosenblatt is an Associate at Golden Venture Partners. In his role, Jamie works closely with entrepreneurs, accelerators, incubators, and the start-up community, to help find, fund and build amazing companies. He's previously held roles in Business Development, Corporate Development, and Corporate Law at Avid Life Media, O'Leary Ventures, and Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt.
Kuljeev Singh, Principal at iGan Partners, has several years of venture capital experience investing in early stage tech companies. As Principal, he is involved in the origination, diligence, structuring, and monitoring of iGan’s portfolio including board positions across various companies. He has also been on the other side of the table as an operator, having co-founded two tech startups. He is an active angel investor and mentor to various early stage SaaS, internet and digital health companies.
Mo Bazazi, Senior Associate at OpenText Enterprise Apps Fund (OTEAF), has a diverse background both in startups and early stage investments as well as in operational roles, in the UK and Canada. Prior to joining OTEAF Mo worked as a consultant with MD Homecall, a Toronto based healthcare startup advising on their Operations and Strategy. He helped the venture to grow revenues by 39% over a few months through rigorous market analysis and strategy implementation.
Dan Israelsohn is a Vice-President at Plaza Ventures. He is a technology executive with extensive experience advising multi-national corporations on optimizing their tax and financial structure. He is also a finance leader for a high-growth SaaS company scaled up operations and managed a business sale to a private equity firm. He focuses his energy on providing financial and strategy advisory to a number of early and mid-stage tech companies.
Mark Oleniuk - Mark is an entrepreneur who has founded 2 successful companies, and has recently completed a round of funding for his latest venture. He is Co-founder and Managing partner of ResQ, an on demand facilities management marketplace to manage your operations with ease.
Lauren Epstein is the Director of Investments at Epstein Enterprises Inc., a single family office which invests across numerous asset classes. Among other things, Lauren is responsible for the growing angel investing portfolio and manages the full cycle of tech investing opportunities in origination, execution and value creation. Before joining EEI, Lauren spent several years working as a litigation lawyer at a leading Toronto commercial litigation law firm, after clerking at the Ontario Court of Appeal.
Matt Roberts is a Partner at ScaleUP Ventures. He joined from BDC where he led sourcing and investments in the IT Venture Funds Seed deals including Crowdriff, Sonder (Flatbook), Unsplash and Crew. Before this Matt raised the Seed and Series “A” round for Semiconductor startup GaN Systems which he joined after graduating from his MBA. Matt was an Analyst at Venture Capital firm Wesley Clover, best known as billionaire entrepreneur Terry Matthews investment group and was also the co-founder and CEO at JohnnyVoIP, a company that developed a web based VoIP application platform.
Sarah Marion is a Senior Analyst, investing in early-stage technology startups at iNovia Capital. Prior to joining iNovia, Sarah studied innovation policy and worked as a Senior Researcher for the Lazaridis Institute, which supports growth-oriented Canadian technology companies.
Aly Dhalla is CEO and Co-founder of Finaeo — a sales platform built from the ground-up for financial advisors. Finaeo helps advisors spend more time with their clients, focus that time on the right actions, and develop winning processes based on best practices.
Emilie Cushman is CEO of Kira Talent — one of the fastest growing technology companies in the “Ed Tech” (education technology) space. They help admissions teams effectively, efficiently, and fairly identify applicants who will succeed in their program.
