Discover how new privacy changes will impact your practice
Avant is pleased to host an evening in conjunction with the WA Indian Doctors Association addressing how the new privacy changes will impact the medical profession. This session, will be presented by Avant Advocacy Manager for Member Education, Ruth Crampton.
Protecting medical information is central to a trusting relationship between doctor and patient. The law has changed regularly since the Privacy Act came into law in 1988 with significant penalties for a privacy breach, as well as the possibility of negative publicity and damage to your reputation. Reforms introduced in February 2018 bring new obligations that healthcare providers need to be aware of.
Topics to be discussed:
the implications of the legislation on the way you practise
how to meet your obligations
data breach risk mitigation strategies
preparing a detailed data breach response plan.
