This walk is only suitable for the physically able-bodied as the route up to McCaig's Tower involves either 144 steps via Jacob's Ladder - a local short cut from the town centre - or a steep uphill walk via Craigard Road as McCaig's is located on Battery Hill. However, the climb is well worth it as the views are spectacular and the gardens within are a tranquil spot for a rest after your exertions! Your guide will share the history of the tower, McCaig's family, his life and legacy and a little about the islands that you can see from the viewing platform. From there the walk will descend back down to the Esplanade and finish at the Dog Stone. If guests wish to continue on to Dunollie to visit the castle and museum they may leave the tour at this point. Access to Oban's Cathedrals en route will be subject to service times.
