Kids Culinary Boot Camp!

If you can't get your kids out of the kitchen, them get them to Hal's Kitchen. We have designed our week long camp to teach skills, techniques, and the fundamentals of cooking in a fun, safe, state of the art kitchen. Kids will be working with culinary professionals, and we will provide all vegetarian meals and snacks. Camp hours are from 10-2, and the fee is $295 per child. We are excepting kids aged 8-13 (rising 3rd through rising 7th grade).
Monday: Knife Skills and Kitchen Safety
Learn all the basic cuts and how to properly use a knife. Kids will make vegetable quiche, breakfast potatoes, and mixed fruit compote
Tuesday: Love Your Mother (Sauces)
The kids will learn to prepare the five mother sauces and create the following for lunch: sauce espagnole with mushrooms over scratch made biscuits, veggie pot pie with veloute, asparagus with hollandaise, broccoli and pasta casserole with béchamel.
Wednesday: Pizza, Pasta, Parmigiana
The name says it all! Campers will continue from the previous day with the 5th mother sauce: Tomato! They will make pizza and pasta from scratch, as well as eggplant parmigiana, mozzarella, and gluten free chocolate amaretti tort.
Thursday: Bakes, Cakes, and Ice Cream
Kids will make bagels, cinnamon buns with salted caramel glaze, chocolate layer cake, and ice cream (kids get to vote on the flavor!)
Friday: Plates for the Parents
On Thursday, we will discuss a delicious menu to serve and share our parents or special friends. Please join us at 12:30 for a fabulous lunch made by the ones you love the most.
