Imagine Social Good Summit
Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)
Monroe Park & MCV Campus
About: IMAGINE18 is a free meeting of middle school, high school, university and graduate students with a shared desire to developing projects in the spaces of social justice, social enterprise, and/or social entrepreneurship. They will be invited to interact with mentors and professionals from the non-profit world, the arts, finance, social engagement, and more.
They are – all together – change making animals.
Our Goals: We encourage our student change animals to present their ideas, ask questions of the experts, network, and build collaborative teams. Social change isn’t an individual act – it’s a collaborative process that builds relationships, recognizes the validity of opposing arguments, and requires critical self-reflection. Building sustainable social change demands building these intergenerational coalitions of diverse human beings.
Together, we can build a more just and livable world.
Who’s Coming: Building sustainable social change requires a diversity of talent. It demands a diversity of people.
Our student presenters are either developing or have experience executing projects that make an impact in the social sphere.
Our experts and mentors come from a diverse array of businesses, the arts, non-profits, technology, and social media.
Our keynote speakers are change making animals who have inspired, motivated, and mentored others in the art of driving social change.
*If you are under the age of 18 you will need to be accompanied by a parent or chaperone.
About the host:
What is IMAGINE Social Good? IMAGINE Social Good (IMAGINE) is a gathering of some of the most inspiring human beings on the planet. We are coming together in Richmond, Virginia to convene, converse, and create diverse coalitions of change-making individuals who are committed to building a more just and livable world. The weekend consists of main-stage events with keynote speakers that are attended by everyone, breakout sessions where student teams present their work to panels of experts, a Hacks for Humanity marathon, inspiring workshops and multiple moments to meet, listen to and learn from one another. IMAGINE (the Summit) was founded by Shawn Humphrey, the Blue Collar Professor and Change-Maker in Residence at Virginia Commonwealth University’s da Vinci Center. IMAGINE Social Good was founded by Dan Morrison, Shawn’s long-time friend and kick ass collaborator.
