The archaic stereotype of a scientist evokes an image of a white-coated, eccentric, complicated, crazy, evil, dangerous, isolated workaholic slaving away in a laboratory. However, this image is simply the by-product of a lack of communication between scientists and the general public.
Scientists have much to contribute to society, and they have the right and responsibility to do so, especially when it comes to our everyday health decisions. Considering the world-wide political debates surrounding key scientific issues (ranging from global warming to vaccinations), scientists must create an effective dialogue with all people in society.
Join Dr Malvindar Singh-Bains on her journey to dismantle this stereotype. This journey represents her desire to apply scientific knowledge to influence lifestyle choices concerning brain health, create awareness of neurological disease and empower our communities with “true” facts.
