In 2017, the City of Carlsbad and The Ecology Center have partnered to provide free composting workshops and discounted composting tools to Carlsbad residents.
Healthy soil is a living, breathing community of organisms interacting to provide a wide variety of benefits to their ecosystems.
In your garden, healthy soils:
Retain moisture and save water
Keep plant diseases and pests at bay
Suppress weeds and soil-borne diseases
Loosen clay and compacted soils
Prevent erosion
Eliminate harmful chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides
One of the easiest methods for building and maintaining healthy soil is by using compost and compost teas that you can make at home.
In this free class, you will:
learn how to sort waste,
learn how to build a hot compost pile,
learn how to start a vermicomposting bin,
learn how to use compost in the garden,
and have the opportunity to purchase discounted compost bins and composting worms, while supplies last.
Join us for this special class, and get started making and using compost at home!
Register today to save your spot.
All participants will receive informational hand-outs to complement the subjects covered in the workshop. By registering for a workshop, you agree to our photo and video release policy.
