Carol Danes is on the verge of getting what she’s always wanted: a chance to direct a play all by herself at the very theatre that changed her life. There’s a catch however: the theatre is in desperate financial straits and its continued existence hinges on the success or failure of a play Carol thinks is overdone, Romeo and Juliet.
Saddled with the awkward nephew of the artistic director as her assistant, Carol has to find her play’s titular characters in just the time span of a day. To complicate matters, this particular theatre doesn’t attract the most brilliant of actors, although one does have a coach. For the first time, you’ll see what community theatre directors have to sit through.
