Description
“I am not my Sister’s keeper; I am my Sister.” – Iyanla Vanzant
We invite you to move outside your comfort zone a tad, to open your eyes and go deeper into yourself as we together engage in a half day critical consciousness workshop to gently and very compassionately uncover our underlying/subconscious thoughts, scripts and belief systems that contribute to sustained sexism and patriarchy.
In our four hours together, we will trace the social, cultural, political, and economic history of a system that maintains a hierarchy based on gendered, racialized, and sexualized bodies. This critical consciousness workshop will also include opportunities for us to be reflective and explore how we individually and collectively participate in perpetuating a patriarchal system that harms everyone.
Come … only if this resonates.
Come … because “we are women and everything we do matters.”
Come … open, soft and prepared.
Come … as you are, vulnerable and courageous.
For we will be embarking on a sacred and guided journey to help ensure that the girl childs among us now – our daughters, granddaughters, goddaughters, nieces, little sisters - those looking up to us The Women, emulating us, listening and watching our every move and word – that they never experience a #MeToo movement in their lifetime and beyond!
Come … be with us because you have had enough (already!) of the pervasiveness, madness and destruction of sexism and patriarchy.
Come … for yourself, for community – to learn & to share, to inspire & be inspired, to empower & be empowered.
Come … stimulate your mind, soften your Heart and delve into your Soul in joyful celebration & honor of sisterhood, womanhood and girlhood.
Come … to cultivate compassion for ourselves and each other as we work forward filled with possibility and hope.

Net proceeds from this Gathering of The Women will be invested in
One World Girl (https://www.oneworldgirl.org)
One World Girl is a nonprofit organization that unites girls to be changemakers in the world. Through educational programs, community events, scholarships, service projects, global trips and creative endeavors, we work to bring girls together from diverse backgrounds, to learn from one another, share their stories, build leadership gifts and explore ways to address and heal the divisiveness in their communities and the world.
If you cannot be with us the day of the event, please do consider paying it forward by purchasing a ticket that will either be gifted to One World Girl or will provide a Sister with a little less financial means to partake in this event.
A little about International Day of the Girl …
Since 2012, 11 October has been marked as the International Day of the Girl. The day aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face, while promoting girls' empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights.
2019 Theme — GirlForce: Unscripted and Unstoppable
Twenty-five years ago, more than 30,000 women from 200 countries arrived in Beijing for the World Conference on Women determined to recognize the rights of women and girls as human rights. What started as global women’s movements campaigning for sexual and reproductive health rights, political participation and equal pay, to name a few, expanded to movements organized by and for adolescent girls.
Today, girls’ movements are stopping child marriage, promoting girls’ education, standing up against gender-based violence, demanding action on climate change, tackling issues of self-esteem, and standing up for girls’ rights to enter temples or public spaces during menstruation. Girls are also engaging with municipalities to advocate for financial investments in their communities and for truly inclusive development that recognize their needs.
Girls are proving they are unscripted and unstoppable.
For this year, under the theme, “GirlForce: Unscripted and Unstoppable”, International Day of the Girl will celebrate achievements by, with and for girls since the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and passage of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
