Description
For all K-12 Educators
Its an educational twofer day! This workshop features two award-winning environmental education programs—Project WILD and Project WET.
Project WILD was developed to create awareness, knowledge, skills and commitment that lead to informed decisions, responsible behavior and constructive actions concerning wildlife and the environment. Similar to WILD, Project WET believes that water is a finite resource that must be managed and protected. Both programs have guides with interdisciplinary activities for the PreK to 12 classroom.
They are correlated to state and national education standards and even some science text books such as Addison Wesley and Holt Science.
This workshop offers exciting new teaching ideas for use in science, math, social studies, language arts, physical education, music, art, and more! Learn how to use these hands-on activities to fit into your school’s STEM program. Participating teachers are also eligible for in-service credit.
All participants will receive:
Six hours of instruction
Project WILD and Project WET 2.0 guides full of innovative activities that are teacher-tested.
Other environmental materials
In-service credit (if follow-up assignment is completed.)

Questions
What is the cost? Registration costs $20 and includes the cost of lunch and snacks.
How should I dress for the workshop? Dress comfortably. You will be both inside and outside doing different activities. It is always suggested that you wear close-toed shoes in a natural area.
What should I bring with me? Because TLNC is primarily a wetland area, you might also want to bring bug spray in case of mosquitoes. You might also want to bring a hat, sun screen, pencil or pen and paper. As an environmental facility, we walk our talk and request that you bring a coffee cup or mugs for beverages.
What do I need to do to get In-service credit? Contact your local in-service coordinator to obtain the appropriate documentation for attending this training. This workshop will meet all requirements for in-service credit but you are responsible for coordinating with your local school district. You must attend the full workshop to receive in-service credit and complete required follow-up. In-service credit is also available through the North East Florida Education Consortium
How do I find Trout Lake Nature Center? TLNC is located at 520 East CR 44 in Eustis. There are several roads named 44 in the area and often GPS or smart phone maps have TLNC located incorrectly. TLNC is one half mile east of the intersection of SR 19 and CR 44 (this intersection has a Publix, Winn Dixie, Burger King and Walgreens) at the northern end of Eustis. You will see our sign on the south side of the road.
Will my cell phone work at Trout Lake Nature Center? Some cell phones only work in the parking lot area. Because of our metal buildings many cell phones do not work inside the buildings. The land line for TLNC is 352-357-7536 and can be used for emergencies.
