Left Coast Country is a modern string band formed in 2010 from the exploding newgrass scene in Portland, OR. The release of their first album, ‘Dark Down and Blue’ features the group’s high-energy, hard driving originals and their contemporary take on the old bluegrass sound. Their second album, ‘Left Coast Country’ propelled their versatile, dynamic sound onto the never-ending tour circuit of North America. Dedication to their craft has made Left Coast Country one of the hardest working, up and coming acts in the Northwest. The statement “for LCC pickin’ is not a hobby, not a job, but a way of life,” (B. Salmon – Bend Bulletin) could not be any more accurate. Left Coast Country constantly strives to expand their music and blaze new territory across the country. At home in Portland, find them at renowned venues such as the Aladdin Theater, The Doug Fir Lounge, and Mississippi Studios. In July 2014, Left Coast Country took home first place in the 13th Annual Northwest String Summit Band Competition, being the first ever Portland bluegrass band to do so. In September 2015, LCC will embark on their third national tour to debut the release of their third studio LP, “Pines Fly By” which was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Justin Phelps at Cloud City Sound in Portland, Oregon. Constantly evolving, their stage performance showcases the group’s synchronous harmonies, beautiful melodies, and intense intricate instrumentation. Left Coast Country’s live shows are the fusion of traditional and progressive; composed of fiery heartfelt foot stompers, rolling country ballads, and powerful instrumental soundscapes. Since 2010, they have had the esteemed pleasure of playing alongside and sharing the stage with musical pioneers such as Vince Herman, Steep Canyon Rangers, Fruition, Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen, Head For The Hills, Danny Barnes, Hackensaw Boys, Pert’ Near Sandstone, Brothers Comatose, Shook Twins, Dead Winter Carpenters, and Polecat.Rising from the Cascade-Siskiyou Mountain range of Southern Oregon comes Eight Dollar Mountain, an exciting, high-energy bluegrass quintet. The group effortlessly blends whitewater-fast rhythms, tasteful harmony arrangements and plenty of low-end thump for a live performance that is sure to get crowds dancing and hollering for more.Eight Dollar Mountain serves up neo-traditional bluegrass blended with old-time country, blues, and gospel harmonies, to audiences up and down the West Coast. Their hard-driving rhythms pull you onto the dance floor, while their clear, purposeful sound reflects the traditions of mountain music.Since coming together on a foggy mountaintop in 2010, this hard-working group has achieved wide acclaim. The band has released three albums, Wild River Country (2010), and Riverboat Gambler (2012), and Tied to the Tracks (2014) . They have opened ahead of nationally touring acts Peter Rowan, Allison Krauss, and eTown, and performed on the nationally syndicated NPR radio program, West Coast Live. Eight Dollar Mountain was also honored to be a finalist in the 2012 NW String Summit band competition. They host community jam sessions and perform consistently at music festivals, local clubs, schools, barn parties, and dances. Eight Dollar Mountain sounds familiar, like the tunes coming from grandfather’s back porch, yet their energy carries the tradition of bluegrass into the 21st century. With blinding-fast flatpicking by guitarist Darren Campbell, the driving rhythms of banjoist Stuart Green, the monstrous chop and Monroe-like tones from mandolin player Phil Johnson, the pulsing low-end of bassist Joe Porto, and the haunting bluesy riffs of resonator-guitarist Mark Lackey, Eight Dollar Mountain is taking the Northwest by storm. Our chef for the evening, Kristen Lyon, enjoys many facets of connecting people to the highest quality local food through cooking classes, farm events, private catering and meal services. Her connection to Hanley Farm and the Jacksonville Farmers market are at the base of her deep commitment to using food grown close to home and outreach to the community. She will be creating a menu featuring Bee Girl honey and locally farmed foods. Organic. Non-GMO. Local. Fresh. Connecting from the heart to food, farmer and community.
