Chef Catrina Mills was raised in New Orleans and she’s ready to teach you everything she knows about Louisiana cooking.
Learn to make your own gumbo with a perfect dark roux, eat a true jambalaya and learn exactly how to re-create it at home and master a classic New Orleans bread pudding with bourbon sauce. In the spirit of Mardi Gras, laissez les bons temps rouler! Let the good times roll!

About Chef Catrina Mills
Chef Catrina Mills specializes in international cuisine. After growing up in Chicago and New Orleans, she traveled the world while serving in the Air Force. Chef Catrina received her culinary training from Midwest Culinary Institute and the University of Cincinnati. In addition to her work as a culinary instructor, culinologist and published author, she owns a catering business and also sells her own line of spices.
Important Event Details
CLASS FORMAT: This is a hands-on class. Everyone will have a station with tools and equipment. We will all work together to cook the recipes. Everyone will get their hands dirty and be involved in the recipes. Some recipes will be mostly demonstrations and others will be completely hands-on. This class is limited to 12 students.
FOOD: Class will end with everyone eating dinner together. After we’re done cooking, we will sit down to enjoy everything we made! You won’t leave hungry.
ALLERGIES AND DIETARY RESTRICTIONS: Please let us know of any allergies or dietary restrictions IN ADVANCE and we can talk about accommodations.
DRINKS: We provide local craft beer, wine, and bottled water. You are welcome to bring any non-alcoholic drinks to class with you.

PARKING: There is often street parking available or you can park in one of the Findlay Market lots. Parking info can be found on the Findlay Market website. It will only cost a few dollars.
ARRIVAL: The classroom kitchen is all windows and located directly inside the front doors. You’ll see us when you walk up. The doors will be locked so just knock and we’ll let you in. We will be watching for arrivals so it shouldn’t be an issue. Please try to arrive by 5:45 pm so we can get started on time.
ATTIRE: Please wear closed toed shoes such as sneakers. You want your feet to be covered (we'll be working with knives and hot food!) and you want to wear something comfortable since we will be on our feet for a few hours. Please keep your hair pulled back or wear a hat. Otherwise, wear comfortable clothes that could potentially get a little dirty. We will provide aprons. Also, feel free to bring clothes if you need to change after work. There is a nice, clean bathroom where you can change.
