Description
SQUIRM AND GERM
Hailing from NYC, Squirm and Germ is a high-energy music comedy duo created by Tim Girrbach and Rodney Umble. These 2 MC's use their hip-hop alter egos to celebrate/parody their irreverent passions through an original, uproarious and self-deprecating voice. With influences ranging from The Gorillaz to Slick Rick and Iggy Pop, S&G produce infectious beats, 80's/90's inspired synth hooks, old school R&B harmonies, and rhyme faster than a kid who drank five Red Bulls at a sleepover. Their wild live show is for anyone with an appreciation for hip-hop, funk, rock, tasty synths, club jams, and rapid fire pop culture references. They are often compared to Flight of the Conchords, The Beastie Boys, The Lonely Island, and The Vienna Boys Choir. Norfolk, you ready to party?!
S&G got their start training in improv at The Second City, Upright Citizens Brigade, and The Magnet Theater. They have rocked the mic at notable venues around NYC including The Apollo, Joe's Pub, Ars Nova, UCBeast, The Knitting Factory BK, Rockwood Music Hall, The Peoples Improv Theater, Union Hall, The Creek and The Cave, and the 92Y. They have been Official Selections of 2016 SF Sketchfest, 2015 Out Of Bounds Fest in Austin, 2014 and 2015 Charleston Comedy Festivals, 2015 NY and Philly Funny Songs Festivals, The 2014 Piccolo Spoleto Fringe Festival, and headliners at The Norfolk Comedy Fest and Cool Show (not lame) Fest in Brooklyn. Their rousing live performances have been compared to Electric Six, LMFAO, and Jerry Lee Lewis.
2014 and 2013 Toobies Nominees for Best Original Music Video. 2012 INNY Award nominees for "Maine, MoFo" (Best Comedy Song and Video).
They have shared the stage with Reggie Watts, Kristen Schaal, Colin Quinn, Arden Myrin, Matt McCarthy, and The Apple Sisters. Squirm and Germ recently released and produced their new EP album 'Naked On A Horse' as well as their debut full-length album "Late Bloomers" in 2011. Both albums were engineered, mixed/mastered and co-produced by Sammy Bananas of Fool's Gold Records and are available on iTunes and Amazon, plus streaming on Pandora and Spotify. Their videos have been featured on CollegeHumor.com, The UK's NME Online Music Magazine, Humor Blogs: FunnyNotSlutty, Strollerderby, The Apiary, and a Neti Pot manufacturer's website.
