Description
45 years after Bruce Lee’s death on July 20, 1973, we’re celebrating the life and influence of the greatest martial arts star ever with a screening of his unfinished final film, and a special preshow of kids’ video reenactments of Bruce Lee moves (including a near-perfect, decades old, Game of Death basement camcorder reenactment, with the now grown-up amateur filmmakers/stuntmen in attendance).
Bruce Lee's legendary unfinished final film brought an abrupt end to the career of the world's greatest martial arts star and gave birth to the world's most iconic track suit. Cobbled together from the final film footage shot before Lee's tragic death, a wide variety of pillaged cinematic sources, and an absurd collection of stand-ins, body-doubles and imitators, GAME OF DEATH somehow remains a remarkable piece of entertainment showcasing some of Lee's most unbelievable fights. Originally intended to be a spiritually educational film focusing on Lee's deep and powerful martial arts philosophies, the film that remains is about an action movie star who must fake his own death to track down and revenge himself on the shadowy group who is trying to kill him. Disjointed, bizarre and yet totally thrilling, GAME OF DEATH is an essential footnote to the legacy of Bruce, featuring some of the most iconic images in all of kung fu cinema. (Alamo Drafthouse)
