You're invited to join us on a virtual foraging survival trip for all of you that are interested in how to survive on the coast of BC.
It's a zoo in the grocery stores right now, so it's important that people be respectful foragers inside and outside, not take more than they need and learn about alternative ways to sustain yourself. This will be a fun way to learn some useful survival tips in case of an emergency.
You'll learn how to find food in a pinch and where to safely forage on the coast of BC. From beach foraging including everything you can harvest by hand like superfood seaweeds, shellfish, crab etc. I'll talk about tasty edible wild weeds like stinging nettle and bittercress and nutrient rich plants for survival like sword fern roots and cattails. We'll cover any poisonous plants, seafood safety and simple cooking methods for the food you find. I've been teaching wild foraging classes for over a decade and have a wonderful group of mycologists and biologists on my team to help you learn.
Virtual Trip Details:
Video Release date: On April 10th we'll
email you the 2 hour video package, watch them anytime. I will be
available by email to answer any questions. The great thing about these
videos is you can have them on your phone to refer to whenever you're
foraging. It's like I'm in your jacket pocket:)
Infield day: On April 11th and 18th (1-3pm), I'll be online to answer questions on the wild foods I've covered. So you can watch infield and I'll help you with ID outside or watch the video at home whenever/wherever is convenient and email me questions. Note that you are not allowed to harvest from BC parks. I'll outline in the video where you can legally pick. Note that not all organisms in the wild are identifiable by
photo, when you are sending in images please take clear pictures, a
habitat shot is necessary as well.
Discount for pre-ordering this week $40 ($45 regular price after April 1st) +tax
We're going to donate $5 from every VFS Trip sale to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. We're all in this together and even small businesses like ours can help out.
