2017 Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome Track Classic
1290 Pipeline Rd, Coquitlam, BC V3B 4S1, Canada
The Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome International Track Classic is Canada's longest running track and field event. In its 34-year history, world and Olympic champions, world record holders, Canadian stars and young hopefuls have thrilled spectators, achieved personal bests and continued in their quest to become Faster, Higher and Stronger.
On June 28, Canada’s Olympic dynamic medal-winning sprinter, Andre de Grasse, will be returning to compete at The Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome International Track Classic.
Andre De Grasse used last year’s Jerome meet as a tune-up for the Rio Summer Olympics where he engaged in some thrilling matchups with multiple-time gold medalist Usain Bolt of Jamaica. De Grasse won a silver medal in the 200-metres and bronze in both the 100 and 400-metre relays in Rio.
The Harry Jerome International Track Classic is held annually in honour of Harry Jerome, whose talent and tenacity on and off the track inspired a generation of Canadians to “never give up” in their own endeavours. His legacy of athletic excellence and commitment to youth and sport remain pillars of motivation and inspiration today.
2017 is a very special year as track and field athletes prepare for the London IAAF World Championships. Canadian athletes use this meet as their Launch Pad to London and we look forward to giving them a great send off!
The Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome Track Classic is hosted by the Achilles International Track & Field Society, a non-profit society registered in British Columbia. Net proceeds from this event support track and field competition in BC.
