Summary Description / Overview:This workshop will focus on the fundamentals of photographic lighting in a Studio environment through a mix of lecture, master demonstrations, and hands-on shooting.Participants will recognize the four basic lighting techniques as solutions to creating an effective portrait. Employing your skills as a portrait photographer: using technical applications to your solution. Being aware of trends and developing a shooting style unique to your own sensibilities. A variety of Leica cameras will be available for use during the workshop.Topics covered: Posing subjects to determine the mood and feeling you’re attempting to achieve.
Defining posing styles for your subject. Setting the mood and feel.
Styling a portrait. Props, clothing, make-up, environment.
Technical controls. Exposure, metering, and lighting ratios.
Lighting equipment. Learning about light shaping tools to achieve desired lighting effects.
Camera equipment. Choice of camera, lens, etc.
Studio etiquette.
Agenda:This full day workshop will have two sessions.Session 1) 10am-1pmIntroduction and understanding of light and its effects in a studio environment.Lunch: 1pm-2pmLunch included in workshop cost. His career has spanned across the editorial and commercial world of photography and brings along a strong visual message to every project. His photojournalist roots are evident in the details of his images.
