Come and discover the world of local VQA wines with Allison Slute, the official sommelier at Death Row Meals and Pillitteri Estates Winery. Allison will present some great fall choices for buying local, and talk about these wines informally but in depth.
We will taste through wines from Niagara and Prince Edward County, from sparkling to ice wine, riesling to pinot noir. Wines are still being finalised, but this will be a great opportunity to sample some great wine.
Allison Slute joined DRM in the Summer of 2012 as the official Sommelier. Allison has a love for wine and spirits, although she has been seen sipping on the occasional cold beer. In 2007, Allison completed the Certified Sommelier program at Niagara College (an affiliate program under the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale based in France) with honours and was recognized as the “Best Taster” in her class. As Export Manager of Pillitteri Estates’, she has travelled to 14 countries on 3 continents to promote Canadian wine, as well as educate wine industry professionals and consumers on the uniqueness and rarity of Canadian wine. More recently Allison has taken on the role of Estate Sommelier at Pillitteri where she writes tasting notes, assists with food pairing choices for events, as well as writes the feature article in the winery’s bi-‐monthly newsletter.
