Transforming Stigma: A Playback Theatre Performance on Mental Health
Toronto, ON, Canada
Performance as part of the Playback North America (PNA) Unconference:
Transforming Stigma-A Playback Theatre Performance Sharing stories around Mental Health and Community Care
Join Branch Out Theatre for a playback theatre performance that breaks the silence around mental health! These days our individual and collective mental health has been shaken, stirred and destabilized. There are times when we may have great energy to be and express all that we are, and around the corner- times when we may feel lost, deflated and alone. Times when we are moving through great states of panic, anxiety and depression, and times when we have the strength to support friends and family through their struggles.
We invite you to share your stories & feelings around mental health and community care & watch as our performers bring your reflections to life online, on-the-spot through improvisation, movement, music and storytelling.
Come share your edges, your puddles and your rising suns. We are here to hold your stories and play them back with compassion, sensitivity, care and love. The more we can share and hear each other's stories, the more we can remember: we are not alone.
This Performance is a Pay What You Can Show: $0-$20.
50% of the proceeds of the show will go towards Branch Out Theatre's BIPOC youth mentorship fund to for BIPOC artists/facilitators ages 18-29 to be mentored in Theatre of the Oppressed, Playback Theatre and community arts project facilitation by BIPOC artists/facilitators.
