Event details
According to research published in a 2018 Journal of Drug Issues article, individuals who regularly attend church and report that religion is very important in their daily decision-making are less likely to use cannabis for medical or non-medical purposes. In an effort to elevate the conversation, “The Highest Praise: Cannabis & Faith!” will explore what religious and spiritual traditions say about the plant and its consumption.
Created to educate and empower communities of disproportionate impact and others interested in learning about the intersection of cannabis and faith, “The Highest Praise” will feature a dynamic panel of thought leaders offering insight on topics including:
The history of cannabis in religious texts & scriptures
What religious and spiritual traditions say about cannabis and consumption
What happens when faith or religion conflicts with medical authority
Spiritual and faith leader beliefs about hemp and CBD use
Thank you to our event sponsor MCR Labs for their enduring support of ELEVATE Northeast and our Community Conversation events.

Jessica was also the 2019 recipient of the Rappaport Institute’s Public Policy Fellowship, which funded her work at the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission. During her fellowship, she was the lead author of a key state report evaluating the cannabis industry’s role in contributing to social equity through positive impact plans for communities disproportionately harmed by the War on Drugs.
