Nick is a trusted and highly skilled multidisciplinary financial professional who is widely acknowledged as an award-winning industry leading expert for his contributions to the investment community over past two decades. After earning an Honours B.Comm in Economics and Finance from McGill University with first-class honours, Nick joined one of the country’s largest asset management firms, where he was consistently one of the institution’s top professionals and received numerous awards of distinction. During his tenure at his predecessor firm, Nick also obtained significant management experience as a Division Director, where he successfully served in that capacity for several years. In 2015 he joined Canada’s largest and most distinguished independent wealth advisory firm Richardson GMP Ltd., in order to provide the discerning client families of Bakish Wealth with a more comprehensive suite of alternative investment opportunities and Family Office services.
Nick has always distinguished himself as someone who is tirelessly devoted to excellence in advanced financial proficiency. David Dufresne, Partner at Panache Ventures
David started his career in the Canadian VC industry in the early 2000s as an analyst at Desjardins Venture Capital. After playing different investment roles at Desjardins, he joined JLA Ventures and the BlackBerry Partners Fund (now named Relay Ventures) as an associate, investing mostly in mobile and web startups.
David left to pursue entrepreneurial roles and acted as CEO of music tech company Bandzoogle for 5 years. He recently worked with music platform Bandcamp as their Head of Strategy and Growth before returning to VC. He joined the 500 Startups Canada team and he is now a founding partner of Panache Ventures, Canada's most active seed-stage fund.
David is a sought-after speaker and panelist at many venture capital, tech and entertainment industry events. After nearly a decade in Silicon Valley, Sam joined the Real Ventures team with a great breadth of experience as a founder, strategizer and marketer. Having leaped into the startup world barely before he graduated from university, he joined the founding team at Chegg, a leading education technology company that went public in 2013. After Chegg, Sam led growth, marketing and sales teams at some of the top early-stage tech companies in the Valley. Combined, his startups have raised well over $200M from the world's best VCs. At Real, Sam works with founders on all aspects of their business from organizational development and product strategy to series A fundraising, growth and scale initiatives. Scott Binns, Partner, CPA, CA at Richter
Scott consults on all aspects of emerging technologies and their related tax implications, as well as corporate and personal tax planning and Canadian income tax compliance matters, including issues relating to trusts, partnerships and individuals. He is a specialist in two areas in particular: estate planning – providing families and individuals tailored services in the area of estate administration – and crypto-currency, which includes knowledge relating to the mining and investing of digital currencies as well as financing by way of ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings).

Raphael Christian-Roy, Co-Founder | Managing Director of Front Row Ventures @ Real Ventures
Raphael is Co-Founder of Front Row Ventures, Canada’s first student-led venture capital fund. He’s a product geek that is first and foremost passionate about creating outstanding technologies that enhance people's lives, especially consumer-centric ones.
Coming from a jack-of-all-trades-entrepreneurial background combined with a software engineering undergrad, he has always been an entrepreneur. As a teenager, he went from owning a car garage to a window-cleaning business to a tech startup. Tara Akhavan, Ph.D. is a visionary technology entrepreneur and pioneer in the field of Perceptual Display Processing that helps building smarter and healthier screens/displays. She is the founder and CTO of IRYStec a Series-A Montreal based start-up in the display industry. She has raised and has helped with raising over $8.5M in Angel and VC funding. Prior to founding IRYStec, she was awarded for scaling an Operations and Maintenance Center (OMC) product in the Telecommunications industry, all the way from analysis and design to deployment in a 3GPP mobile network with 20 Million subscribers. Pascal is serial entrepreneur and strategist who can already count two successful exits in the Blockchain space between 2014 to 2017.
