The Cannabis Society, with support from ours sponsors, has put together a unique Joint Venture Conference. Come hear presentations from vetted food & beverage brands, credible technology companies, retail chains, cultivators, and licensed producers, all try to pitch and strike a joint venture deal with one another.
Among our various partners, there will be a team of industry experts vetting presentations in advance to ensure each joint venture opportunity is viable, and a strong business case.
In the audience will be license producers, mutinationals, and industry who will be hearing presentations.
From presentations to product demos, no doubt the Joint Venture Conference aren't one to be missed.

Narbe Alexandrian, President of Canopy Rivers
Narbe is the President of Canopy Rivers, the venture capital affiliate of Canopy Growth, and the largest cannabis VC fund in the world. Prior to joining Canopy Rivers, Narbe was a Venture Capitalist at OMERS Ventures, the largest and most prominent technology venture capital fund in Canada. During his tenure, Narbe helped fundraise for two VC funds ($520M of capital), sourced and lead multiple debt/equity financings, and acted as a Board Observer for a number of portfolio companies. Prior to OMERS Ventures, Narbe was a Senior Strategy Manager in TELUS’ Internet of Things (IoT) group where he helped launch operational go-to-market strategies to TELUS’ executive leadership team. Prior to TELUS, he held roles at Firmex Inc., a leading virtual data room company based in Toronto, and Deloitte LLP, where he held roles in Financial Advisory and Consulting (fka Monitor Deloitte). Narbe is currently a Sessional Instructor at the Schulich School of Business, teaching technology entrepreneurship and venture capital within the undergraduate and MBA programs. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business at York University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.
James McMillan, VP Business Development of Hexo Corp
James McMillan brings more than 20 years of executive experience in strategic sales, marketing and business development with an entrepreneurial spirit, strong negotiating skills, and expertise in developing growth markets to his role as our Vice-President for Business Development. A graduate of Concordia University (Bachelor of Commerce, Marketing/Finance), James has an established track-record of creating successful business development opportunities, building growth organizations, and establishing lasting customer relationships in diverse fields including communications, emerging technologies, energy management and now cannabis across both Canada and international markets.
As Vice-President for Business Development, James plays a leading role in identifying strategic opportunities in the expanding cannabis market. From the development of new and innovative product lines for the medical and recreational markets, to building strong relationships with commercial partners, James is responsible for establishing and expanding our market position in Canada and beyond.
Dennis Byrne, Managing Director, Alternative Capital Group at Canaccord Genuity
Dennis Byrne is the Managing Director of the Alternative Capital Group at Canaccord Genuity and a member of the US Executive Committee. Dennis has been with CG since 2006 in sales and leadership roles with mandates focused on establishing Cross Border and Priority sales teams. In addition, he was an integral part of CG establishing a New York office and network. As the relationship manager for his own clients, he cultivates new partnerships that complement the firm’s growth strategy. Dennis’ finance career began at Bear Stearns initiating relationships that he has successfully maintained throughout his career. Tom Zuber, Managing Partner of Zuber Lawler
Tom Zuber has advised some of the most iconic companies in the world on their patent and trademark portfolios. He is at the cutting edge of cannabis patent and trademark law. Tom holds a law degree from Columbia Law School, a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard Government School, and a biomedical engineering degree from Rutgers University, where he graduated with highest honors.
