Theme: Building Bridges
The theme Building Bridges challenges individuals to reflect on their experiences of connecting and communicating with the community and nature. Bridging past, present and future, we will look at how we have built and maintained relationships, fostered unity and a positive atmosphere in an era where hatred and divide are intense. This year’s theme will inspire and reinforce the meaning of community.
Humans, animals, species - we rarely can be classified as one single unit. As living beings on this planet, existing within the complexity of an ecosystem, humans not only constantly interact with one another, but also coexist with other animals, plants, and the rich biodiversity of nature. Within our bodies, countless cells are connected, constantly working together to ensure the well-being of the larger organism. As social animals, we create relationships with other humans, laying the foundations on which we build our communities. Varied and unique, these communities in turn become an organism, interacting amongst each other, building bridges of collaboration, generating an infinite web of possible associations. These examples of interconnectedness can inspire ingenuity and innovation. Technological advancements and original theoretical frameworks of analysis are ripe with possibilities - to be human is to push such conventional boundaries beyond their imagined limits. Although far from perfect, complex multi-disciplinary human connections reveal the diversity of life and the rare beauty of humanity itself.
