Description
Join us as we visit Welcome Table Farm on Yellowhawk Creek. For ten years, Andy and Emily Asmus have grown their sustainable farming venture from a startup on leased land to a viable certifiable organic farm that provides food and flowers to the valley through Community Supported Agriculture. See their land, meet their draft horses, and learn about their farming practices. Emily and Andy make a difference in the valley by educating others in their techniques, cooperating with Whitman College, and offering field trips to students in the community. Following the Welcome Table tour, we'll have a bring-you-own lunch, picnic-style, right there. Our second stop will be the organic sweet onion farm of Dan and Sarah McClure on Langdon Road. There, you'lllearn everything you always wanted to know about Walla Walla's most famous crop, sweet onions. Quality and taste, produced using sustainable, healthy farming practices - this is what Walla Walla Organics farmer Dan McClure keeps in mind each day as he "plays in the dirt" west of Walla Walla. These coveted onions - the only certified organic sweets in the Walla Walla valley - have been grown by Dan since 2003.
