Description
A fascinating documentary film about the reconstruction of an elaborate painted ceiling and roof of one of Poland’s vanished 18th-century wooden synagogues. Architects Rick and Laura Brown, who worked on this project for ten years, led an international team of 300 students and professionals from 16 countries, who tirelessly pieced together this beautiful structure. The film brings to life 18th-century Poland’s history, culture, science, and art.Speakers: Project participants Sara Black, Assistant Professor of Sculpture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and Charlie Roderick, Assistant Professor of Art at Harper College.About the SW Michigan Jewish Film Festival: The best of Jewish film comes to the Kalamazoo area October 25 - November 1, including comedies, dramas, and documentaries.
