Starship featuring Mickey Thomas is the newest incarnation of one of American’s rock and roll’s most storied bands, dating all the way back to the mid-sixties when it first featured iconic lead singer Gracie Slick. While singing lead for the Jets in 1974, Thomas joined the Elvin Bishop Group as a vocalist. He sang lead vocals on the 1975 Elvin Bishop single “Silent Night” and the 1976 single "Spend Some Time," but his best known achievement was singing on Elvin Bishop’s chart hit “Fooled Around and Fell in Love,” a No. 3 single in 1976. In April 1979, Thomas joined Jefferson Starship after the departure of Marty Balin and Slick. Thomas spent most of the early eighties as the main vocalist of Jefferson Starship, even performing several duets with Slick (who rejoined the group in 1981), all the while gaining greater influence in the band. After Paul Kantner left the band in 1984, Thomas became its leader. In today’s version of the group, he and Stephanie Calvert provide the lead vocals, backed by Darrel Verdusco (drums), Phil Bennett (keyboards), Jeff Adams (bass) and John Roth (lead guitar). Those who attend the summer festival be listening to songs like “We Built This City on Rock and Roll,” “Sara,” Nothing’s Going to Stop Us Now” and “Find Your Way Back.” Tony Lewis of The Outfield will open for Starship. Lewis is a musician, songwriter and record producer probably best known as co-founder of The Outfield. Together with John Spinks, the two took the eighties by storm with infectious pop songs, including “Your Love,” “All the Love,” and “Say It Isn’t So.” Their debut album, Play Deep, was issued in 1985, and would go on to reach triple platinum sales status and the Top 10 in the U.S. album charts. VIP Tickets include: Seat in the front section of the venue, dinner and two drinks. (not valid for spirits).
