About Sam
Limb Difference: Congenital
Type: Missing LeftHand
Sport: Baseball
Sam Kuhnert was born with only one hand. Due to his perseverance, dedication and leadership, he became a successful athlete, role model and coach. At 18, he founded the national nonprofit organization, NubAbility Athletics. Sam believes that everyone deserves the chance to play sports.
As a three sport varsity athlete, Sam chose to sign with Greenville University to play baseball at a collegiate level. A deadly diagnosis, and injury took Sam from the mound. Once healthy, he pitched and became team Captain of Morthland College Patriots. In his second season as a Patriot, he suffered another injury that pulled him from the pitching mound for good. Sam became the team’s pitching and strength coach for the next two seasons. He still holds the teams ERA record.
Sam currently works as NubAbility’s Program Director. His Keynote For A Cause speaking events help raise money for NubAbility's nationwide adaptive sport camps. Learn more at SamKuhnert.com.

“I will not let your perception of my limits, limit my determination to crush your pity and replace it with your respect for my ability to compete.” - Sam Kuhnert
