The Shelter Valley Concert Series 2023 Season Premiere concert features a double-bill concert of amazing local music. Series Host Randy Stewart opens for a set and then introduces us to regional favourite Marie Lachner.
Marie Lachner is a singer, who plays a little ukulele, bass, and guitar. Marie hails from Colborne, Ontario and has performed for the last 7 years as one of the lead singers with the Colborne Library Ukulele Band. She has performed on local radio and on festival and event stages with her eclectic 5-piece band, String Mashup since 2016, but has been playing family music since about age 6 or 7. She grew up in Cobourg, singing in church choirs, performing in band programs, and playing the bells at St. Peter’s Church as a teenager.
Marie has been involved in community volunteer service for over 30 years and currently manages two of Colborne’s principal music events: Music in the Square and the performance stages at Apple Blossom Tyme Festival.
She has been a food scientist for over 36 years and regularly brings a meat thermometer to BBQs.
Randy Stewart is a Canadian singer/songwriter who has been performing professionally for more than 30 years. He has been seen on television, heard on radio and recorded by the CBC. His recordings can be found in the delete bins of some of the country’s finest record stores.
He has been crusading for years to purge love songs from his performances. His mantra – Sad Songs & Funny Songs ‘I DON’T PLAY LOVE SONGS’ – has become familiar to music fans throughout the region and lead him to seach for the unexpected songs found in the cannons of resistance and protest movements.
“There are a lot of performers out there singing about love and relationships – I’m just not one of ‘em”.
Pineapple Productions is extremely proud to present this exclusive concert as our 2023 Shelter Valley Concert Series Season Premiere.
