Description
Our two hour proofing workshop will be the final stage before our collective Seniors Write manuscript goes to print. Participants will engage in final edits of each others manuscripts as they carefully comb them for the ultimate time. At this stage, manuscript pieces have been through many drafts and revisions as well as structural and copy edits. The purpose of this workshop will be to catch any egregious spelling, syntax, and stylistic errors. This is not a workshop where pieces go through major changes or shifts, we are simply adding the finishing touches.
About the facilitator:
Born and raised in Scarborough, Ashleigh Allen is a poet, writer, and educator. She earned a BaH from Queen's University (Kingston, ON), an MFA in Poetry from The New School (New York, NY), and an MA in English Education from Columbia University (New York, NY). Her writing is inspired by early 20th century French Surrealist writers and American poets of the last century, particularly The New York School. She has studied under and worked alongside some of America's best living poets including Elaine Equi, Meghan O'Rourke, Mark Bibbins, David Lehman, and Hoa Nguyen. Her community involvement in after-school programs and writing workshops in both New York City and Toronto have provided some of her most profound learning experiences.
