Description
TREAD ON IT! is your chance to print a t-shirt using car parts and tires. Gaskets and circuit boards for oil, even a gear from a city bus will be part of the design you will use on your shirt. This a very active workshop: rolling—using large rolling pins made from gears and exhaust pipes, pressing—using parts as blocks to create patterns, and stencilling with gaskets from engines. The whole thing is based in recycling as we use junk car parts, unwanted shirts and mis-tint house paint.
ABOUT THE FACILITATORJeff Mann is a Kingston-based sculptor working almost exclusively with car parts. He has had numerous solo shows in Ontario and in New England. The TREAD ON IT! workshop grew out of his interest in the parts he works with and his interest in sharing them with others. A favourite challenge for him is to create environments for others to create in. (http://jeffmannart.com/)This workshop is part of Scarborough Arts' SA Suite of Programs — Fall 2017.
