Course Description
Individuals in this 40 hour instructor-level course learn skills that enhance their ability to create innovative programs, solve problems in ropes course environments, prepare for emergency situations, and manage a ropes course. Specifically, instructor candidates will develop advanced leadership and facilitation skills, practice advanced knots, belaying, and descending techniques, develop problem solving skills, carry out management systems, and learn and practice the Ropes Course Rescue Protocol System. Course content will be covered through a combination of classroom presentations, hands-on practice, and rescue simulations.
Successful completion of the course, practical skills assessment, and written test will lead to certification as a Challenge Course Practitioner Level Two - Full. The following operating systems are included: Spotted, Dynamic Belay, Participatory Belay,Lanyard/Static, Climbing Wall, Climbing Tower. The following specialized elements are included: Aerial Leap, Rappelling, Giant Swing, and Flying Squirrel. Please note that zip lines are not covered in this course. Adventureworks! Associates, Inc. is a Professional Vendor Member of the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) and our training and certification programs have been accredited by the ACCT.

Course Objectives
By the end of this course, instructor candidates will:
Acquire advanced skills in knot tying, anchoring, lowering, belaying, and raising.
Increase skills for ropes course that use a variety of operating systems, including: dynamic belay, lanyard courses, climbing walls, and towers.
Learn and practice safe operation and management aspects for leading specialized elements such as aerial leaps, giant swings, and haul systems.
Understand the contribution of program design to accessibility and apply this knowledge to the leadership and facilitation of adventure activities.
Apply the ropes course rescue protocol system and a principle-based problem-solving approach to execute safe and timely emergency response.
Improve facilitation and leadership skills though participation in a variety of adventure activities.
Course Prerequisites
18 years of age
200 documented hours of adventure program delivery experience as a Level 1 Challenge Course Practitioner
Current certification as a Level 1 Challenge Course Practitioner (Adventureworks! Associates, Inc. Assistant Ropes Course Instructor (ARCI) or equivalent)
Willingness and ability to perform all tasks related to ropes course operation including spotting, belaying, climbing on belay, climbing on self belay to perform set-up / take-down, and performing in-air rescue tasks

Participants MUST be 18 years of age at the time of the course.

Meals include lunch on first day of course, to lunch on last day.
Accommodation is available on the first day of the course. If you plan to arrive the night before there is an additional fee.
