Solar Energy International (SEI) Training: This year's SEI training will be an OSHA PV safety course, and will run from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Friday, October 19th. This course is worth 3 NABCEP credits. To attend this course, you must add on the SEI Training option at check-out. Here's a brief course description:
A safe installation begins with an understanding of the potential hazards on a PV job site. Solar workers must be trained on how to eliminate or control these hazards through safe working practices, engineering controls, and proper PPE. Pressure to install projects quickly and minimize costs can not only lead to job site injuries or even death, but also costly safety violations. In this course we discuss OSHA requirements and best practices for ladder and lift safety, fall protection, PV mounting safety, and solar electric safety, exploring methods and equipment to work both safely AND efficiently on the job site. This 3-hour course is adapted from a 12-hour solar installation safety course developed by SEI under an OSHA Susan Harwood Training Grant.
