Description
Rock the Vote, Gaia Music Collective, and Live Nation Women have partnered for a special One-Day Choir in Raleigh, North Carolina! Join us to Make A Beautiful Noise and harness the collective power of our voices and our votes.
The Grammy-nominated song "A Beautiful Noise" reminds us that we each have a voice and that when we raise them together, we can shape our future.
After the choir, leave inspired with others and head to a nearby polling location to vote early—a convenient, fast, and flexible way to ensure your voice is heard ahead of election day.
WHAT IS A ONE-DAY CHOIR?
A One-Day Choir is an opportunity to come together, sing, and celebrate the power of music and community—no auditions, judgment, or need for perfection—just a celebration of the connective power of music.
We'll rehearse the song section by section and capture video content to inspire others to get out the vote.
All experience levels are welcome and valued, whether you're a vocal ensemble veteran or have never sung in a group.
OUR SONG THIS TIME AROUND
“When you band together, it’s a choir…” These lyrics from A Beautiful Noise by Alicia Keys and Brandi Carlile reflect the power of raising our voices—and our votes—together. In 2020, Alicia Keys and Brandi Carlile recorded and performed the Grammy-nominated song to help get out the vote, marking the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage and the 55th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act.
With a new choral version arranged by Gaia Music Collective founder and lead facilitator Matt Goldstein, we will raise our voices high, singing:
I have a voice
Started out as a whisper, turned into a scream
Made a beautiful noise
Shoulder to shoulder, marching in the street
Check out the vocal arrangement here and view the full song lyrics here.
LEARNING THE MUSIC
Sheet music and vocal recordings for each part will be available at least a week before the event to support different learning styles. You'll receive them in your order confirmation or by email. The goal is to arrive familiar with the parts, so we can focus on connection and expression. No need to memorize or get it perfect—just enjoy ourselves, celebrate the power of our voices, and create great music together.
LED & FACILITATED BY
This session will be facilitated by vocalist, educator, and vocal percussionist Tracy Robertson.
