Description
Two years of pandemic have hurt the musical community in our region, across our country and around the world. Our response is to create this showcase concert series - designed to re-introduce some of the area's outstanding musical performers to a post-pandemic audience.
We'll be working to present our showcase performers in the best way possible with extended 30-minute sets on a proper stage with pro sound and lights. Our goal is to help all our acts put their best foot forward. We're all in this together, after all.
This month we're presenting three acts that - even after years of lockdown - are unforgettable. The engaging and eclectic, Mark Lesage, the undeniable voice of Adam Gibson and 'Telecaster Master' Steve Piticco. Please join us for this amazing show.
Mark Lesage has been having a hard time deciding what he wants to be when he grows up. He has been a house painter, a truck driver, and a professional musician. He's worked in offices, factories and lumber yards. He became a teacher and retired as promptly as possible. He became an actor and playwright, performing in his own The Rebel of Hungerford' , and became a regular cast member of Tweed & Company Theatre.
Five years ago he became obssessed with the accordion. It's an obssession that eventually gave birth to the character of Torbic Kagmire. And here he is now!
Adam Gibson has been playing country music in the Quinte area for some 20 years. He is a veteran of the Trent Valley Jamboree concert series and a multi-year finalist at the Kingston Fall Fair Singing Showdown. You can find him performing at many local live venues.
When it comes to pickers, Steve Piticco is in a class of his own. He has become the benchmark for seasoned professionals and developing players alike, with his distinctive sound and style. He has been inducted into the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame and is a multi-award winning artist - including being recognized many times by the CCMA as Guitar Player of the Year and Instrumentalist of the Year.
In his own words "I truly love Country, Bluegrass & Texas-Swing although I have played almost all kinds of music in my 39 proffessional years in the music business. I have been truly blessed to play with almost everyone I've grown up listening to. I love my 1976 Telecaster - which I bought new and still play it today. I play 'Lead, Bass, Steel, Baritone, Dobro, Banjo' and pick an accoustic and mandolin. I am the only original, full-time member of South Mountain - a band we started in 1989 and still tours Europe and Scandinavia every year. most of what I do though, is sessions and freelancing, live. I thank all of you, for your interest in my playing."
