Rouken Glen Rd, Giffnock, Glasgow G46 7UG, UK
Playground Festival is a brand new music festival with an eclectic mix of iconic international and best new artists and is situated in the leafy south side of Glasgow.
Playground Of Sound are pleased to announce MS LAURYN HILL as the Saturday night headliner, performing exclusively her only Scottish date this festival season. She’ll be joining previously announced headliners Groove Armada (Friday) and Hot Chip (Sunday), for a trio of Scottish festival exclusives and a real eclectic mix of the best live music.
Multi-platinum artist Ms. Lauryn Hill rose to prominence as the lone female member of The Fugees, one of the biggest selling R&B acts around the world with album sales of over 20 million. After leaving The Fugees her solo career soared when The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was released twenty years ago, earning her five GRAMMY Awards and leaving a beautifully indelible mark in music history and one that she is now revisiting on the road.
Playground Of Sound is a unique new boutique festival for discerning, open-minded music lovers. Taking place over 3 days starting on Friday 2nd August, it takes place in Rouken Glen Park; a lush, leafy setting in East Renfrewshire located South West Of Glasgow.
Friday night welcomes the definitive live dance outfit, Groove Armada, for their only full live Scottish show of 2019. The ‘I see you baby’ & ‘Superstylin’ musical duo bring their divine Balearica vibe which has sound tracked lazy summer nights for a couple of decades to our stunning site. With a dazzling support line-up including Cuban Brothers and Glasgow duo Illyus & Barrientos, fresh from their Radio 1 Essential Mix, this is a party for those who want to go wild at the front, those who want to lounge on the grass and soak up the sounds, and everyone in between.
Saturdays’ newly announced line-up includes the Mercury and BRIT nominated Anna Calvi whose 2018 album ‘Hunter’ garnered a stunning 5 Star review from The Guardian. Craig Charles, the hugely popular actor, comedian, author, poet and television presenter, brings his famous Funk & Soul Club to the festival alongside the Scots DJ duo Shaka Loves You and their turntable trickery. More acts to be announced.
Sunday we step up the tempo with the mighty Grammy nominated Hot Chip for their only Scottish Festival show of 2019. Taking the headline slot, they are set to deliver their dazzling electro pop sound in their own inimitable style. Sunday’s support line-up sees a day packed with some of the best live acts on the planet; whether you’re a club kid or just someone who still appreciates the best in modern music. Sets from Little Dragon, Maribou State and Django Django will ignite the sonic congregation closing off the weekend.
Throughout the three days the legendary and multi-award winning Big Feed Street Food Market will be on hand to serve up the finest in street food from their artisan trucks, while plentiful cocktail and craft beer bars will serve up premium drinks.
