Noelle Elia is a multi-media artist who takes us on a voyage of discovery. She tells the story of Franco Grosso and Mariano Elia, two immigrants who left southern Italy for a new life in Canada. Franco stayed close to his Italian roots and was known as the 'original popcorn man'. Mariano arrived as a 12 year-old boy who spoke no English but went on to become one of Canada's top builders and a philanthropist. These two men never met, but they had Noelle in common – she is Mariano's grand-daughter, and Franco's friend. In this film, through her memories and a voyage back to Italy, she creates a portrait of Canada's changing face of diversity.
