Manifesto Festival of Community & Culture presented by Aurora and Vancity Community Investment Bank, brings you the first ever Manifesto Discovery Series, August 9-14.
Popping up in multiple Toronto venues and DIY spaces, the series showcases artists, collectives and local organizations that are building community and culture through music, visual arts, dance, comedy and more. All leading up to the FREE festival grounds at City Hall with headliner Chronixx on August 17.
---✦ The Event ✦A presentation by The Academy, 2oolman of ATCR, Freshkils, Junia-T, and CDR Toronto.Sampler Cafe | 2-5pmProducers from across the GTA and beyond will gather with their gear, in a collaborative session where producers will share their music and their production chops. Fans are invited to attend as well - you don't need to be a producer to spectate.Beat Academy presents Toronto Producer Tribute | 5-7pmToronto collective Beat Academy hosted beat battles for a number of years locally, featuring some of the key Toronto producers currently making international waves (WondaGurl, Prezident Jeff, Sevn Thomas, Big Pops, Burd & Keyz, and many more). They have now taken the brand in to schools and city-vs-city battles in both Canada and the United States, with an upcoming battle coming in late 2018 - Toronto vs London (UK). Beat Academy will present a tribute to Toronto Producers, both current and pioneers, via a 2-hour set of tracks produced by Toronto's best.Evening Showcase feat. Subtle Blend, The Build, and more | 7pm - midnightThe evening segment will feature a range of Toronto producers, via Open CDR producer submissions (powered by CDR Toronto), curated showcases presented by local series Subtle Blend and The Build, and a couple special guests.CDR Toronto - an evolving multi-platform music project that offers producers the opportunity to submit their new ideas, works-in-progress, unreleased songs, remixes and edits (either on CD, USB or in advance online) and have them aired in a sound-system orientated environment.NOTE: Seating at tables in the restaurant will be reserved for individuals having dinner between 5-10pm.
