Acclaimed pianist Theo Saunders has performed in many of the world's most prestigious jazz festivals, concert halls and night clubs, with distinguished jazz artists including Freddie Hubbard, Carla Bley, Charles Lloyd, Bob Brookmeyer, Sonny Fortune, Azar Lawrence, John Klemmer, Buddy Collette, Eddie Harris,Ted Curson, James Moody, Bobby Hutcherson and many more.
Henry 'The Skipper' Franklin is a paragon of jazz consistency, as trusty as they come. The best musicians have called on this technically-assured bass player for gigs and/or recording dates: Ornette Coleman, Sonny Rollins, Archie Shepp, Freddie Hubbard, Roswell Rudd, Hugh Masekela, Willie Bobo, the list stretches on and on. Franklin even turns up on the gold record Stevie Wonder's Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants.
Yayo Morales after spending many years of international acclaim, living and working in Europe, performing with top Jazz, Latin Jazz and Flamenco stars, is now situated in L.A. Drummer, Composer, Producer, Arranger and Educator, Yayo has played with an array of talent, such as: Jerry González, Chano Domínguez, “Tomatito”, Jorge Pardo, Carles Benavent, and many other artists including Rita Marley, La Barbería del Sur, Henry “The Skipper” Franklin, Azar Lawrence, Bobby Bradford, Steve Cotter, Theo Saunders, Benn Clatworthy and Ron Stout to mention a few.
Thanks to a grant from the L.A. Department of Cultural Affairs, there is no cost to view this live performance but registration is required to obtain your ZOOM log-in information. Once you register, you will be sent information as to how to access this fabulous program.
The event will, however, lend focus to The World Stage - an educational and performance art space in Leimert Park Village, the heart of Los Angeles' African American cultural community.
