A rare, one-on-one deep dive into the discography of one of hip-hop’s most unsung producers:
Rashad “Tumblin Dice” Smith. As a hitmaker for The Notorious B.I.G., Busta Rhymes, LL Cool
J, Total, Aaliyah, and countless others, Smith’s resume reads like your favourite classic 90’s
hip-hop and R&B playlist with iconic chart-toppers like “One More Chance”, “Woo-Hah” and
“Can’t you see”.
But Rashad isn’t all gloss. His beginnings as an avid vinyl head have taken
him on legendary missions with some of hip hop’s top tier crate diggers like Q-Tip, Pete Rock
and Large Professor. And his love for records runs as deep as his crates, which have grown
considerably since his days working in Mom and Pop record stores in 1980’s Brooklyn. Roots
drummer Questlove once called Rashad his most wanted guest on his Questlove Supreme
podcast, not only because of his notorious reclusiveness, but the variety and depth of his
reach from Sean “Diddy” Combs to Erykah Badu. A rare interview with a hip-hop original - and
a Live Convention Exclusive.
