Continuing with our series of celebrating the incidental growth of the Cathedral Quarter, Coventry Cathedral and Food Union will this time be examining the names of the plants in our ‘Live and Dye’ garden and why they’re called what they are. A common weed that pops up in the space is ‘Fat Hen’ but did you know it’s also referred to as White Goosefoot, Lamb's Quarters, Dungweed and Bathua? As an activity we’ll be identifying all the plants in our garden but not by their name and instead providing a description of their uses. We’ll then be making clay labels of our imagined names and placing them round the garden.
These events are family friendly, for people of all ages and all the materials and equipment necessary will be provided. The Live and Dye garden is a great opportunity to get up close and involved in the city’s incidental flower growth and to learn about the amazing properties these plants can provide.
