King of the Slums + SPIRIT:level
Night & Day Cafe
No. 26 Oldham Street
King of the Slums are back ! Following last years successfully acclaimed album Manco Diablo and with a new album 'Artgod Dogs' due out on the 8th June 2018 and being hailed by critics as their finest work to date, this event in an intimate setting is one you won't want to miss. In addition to showcasing some of the bands new material the event will also delve into favourites from the bands back catalogue
Some history....a long time ago, the band fell out. Their instruments damaged. Their Biro's broken. It took a long time for things to mend. That KOTS return has been somewhat delayed due to artistic and world events doesn't mean the band were not watching, it means they were it means they were thinking, waiting and allowing gestation to eventually force their art to emerge
With no other tour dates currently scheduled this is a rare opportunity to see the legendary Mancunian band perform live
SPIRIT:level is an exciting new project from Mark Hoyle (Dub Sex), and Dave of Wark (Ceramic Hobs/PLSRs).
SPIRIT:level combine film, electronic tones, spoken word and ghostly singing to create something truly immersive and unique. Journeying through the grime and pain of Victorian Manchester, to the screaming high-rise sleek future being built around us.
We visit spirit-ridden Pendle, and listen to the lost, beneath the bleak, unyielding sea. Suspend your disbelief.
SPIRIT:level have only performed in major galleries and film festivals before now, and following on from our successes at Manchester's Whitworth Art Gallery, and at HOMEmcr, we are delighted to be bringing ourselves to Night and Day, our first performance in a music venue.
