Jabu and Aline Morales, Sisters in Song
1585 Dundas St. W
Live on stage at Lula Lounge for one night only, beloved Brazilian songstress Aline Morales is joined by her sister, Jabu Morales, resident of Barcelona, celebrating the release of Jabu's second album 'Malungo'$10 in advance at umanota.ca$15 at the doorThe stories of each of these Morales sisters' journey with music can read as one in the same... Inheriting an acute musical ear through their father and his giant record collection, they each made their initial discovery through capoeira, and then were seduced by the heavy rhythms of Maracatu de Baque Virado and the rich traditional music heritage of their country. Following their passions far from Brazil, they each went on to become instrumental in the Brazilian music scenes of their respective new cities of Barcelona and Toronto. Guided by the diversity and fertility of these new scenes the sisters each went on to record a critically acclaimed album. Despite these many similarities, they each bring a unique flavour to their art. Now they join together to celebrate the release of Jabu's second album 'Malungo', appearing on the same stage in Toronto for the first time since 2012.Part of Uma Nota's Pan Am Jam series.
